Featuring Kraig Windschitl and Carolyn Diamond on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 7pm.

This concert includes performances as soloists, in duet, and as a piano/organ duo with composers ranging from Diemer, Hovhaness and Bach to Alain, Utterback and Reger.  And it culminates with the exciting Finale from the Gregorian Concerto by Pietro Yon.

Presented by Thursday Musical and the American Guild of Organists, these keyboard concert artists, are teaming up to present a program of music that will feature the outstanding 70 rank Hendrickson Tracker Organ and the Steinway D piano in the sanctuary of Wayzata Community Church.

Carolyn Diamond, organ

Active as both pianist and pipe organist, Carolyn Diamond performs regularly on concert series in the metro areas of Minnesota and New York. As a recitalist, she has been praised for her buoyant style and interpretive vigor, and has the reputation of delivering passionate and colorful performances. Selections from her CD of piano music, SCANDINAVIAN SUITE, launched in 2012, have been played on Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media.

Diamond has been a frequent performer at the TCU/Van Cliburn Piano Institute in Texas where she was a winner of the 2003 Piano Concerto Competition, performing with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Having been a church musician since high school, she has served large congregations as Director of Music/ Organist, and most recently as Staff Musician at Central Lutheran Church (2001-March/2016). She is active as a performing member of the American Guild of Organists (has served the on the Executive Board of the TCAGO), Friday Club, and is an Artist Member of Thursday Musical. She has worked with the American Symphony Orchestra and was a performer with the National Arts Club in New York City.

A Valedictorian from Robbinsdale High School, she went on to receive her B.A. degree (with highest distinction) from the University of Minnesota where she studied piano with Bernard Weiser and organ with Heinrich Fleischer. Postgraduate work includes keyboard studies with Howard Don Small, Dean Billmeyer at the University of Minnesota, Kent Tritle of the Juilliard School, and Igor Resnianski of Westchester University. A winner of the Young Artist Competition, she was also a recipient of the Dimitri Metropolous Scholarship.

Kraig Windschitl hails from New Ulm, MN where his love of music was instilled at an early age.  Upon high school graduation from the Perpich Center for Arts, Golden Valley, MN, he completed the Bachelor of Arts from St. John's University, with majors in Church Music/Organ and Theology.  His graduate study is from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, which resulted in a Master of Music in Organ Performance with a cognate in Sacred Music.

Currently Kraig serves as Chapel Organist/Carilloneur/Instructor at Breck Episcopal School of Golden Valley.  In 2005, Kraig was named Principal Organist at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church.  In addition to serving in music ministry at the various Mt. Olivet Campuses, (Victoria, Farmington, Minneapolis) Kraig serves on the American Guild of Organists, Twin Cities Chapter, Program Committee.  An avid supporter of new music, he has premiered/commissioned works by various new composers, which has led to performances at the American Guild of Organists National Conventions as well as the Organ Historical Society.  He has been heard on MPR’s “Pipedreams” as well as “Sounds of Indiana”.  He maintains a private teaching studio, and chairs the Organ Exams/Contests for the Minnesota Music Teachers Association.
