Performer Information
David Holmes grew up in Texas, but has lived in Minneapolis since 1993. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston and a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Kansas (1993). A Suzuki teacher for 25 years, David has been a guest clinician at over 50 Suzuki institutes across the country and has presented at the Suzuki National Conference twice. He was awarded the Master Studio Teacher Award in 2014 from the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA). As a columnist for the award-winning MNSOTA Journal for the past 10 years, David has published numerous articles on cello pedagogy. He also has been published in the American String Teacher’s Association (ASTA) journal and the Wisconsin Cello Society Newsletter. David taught at the Augsburg College Suzuki Talent Education Program from 1994-2014 and is currently teaching at the North Star Cello Academy. David is cellist in the Northern Lights String Quartet, is an artist member of Thursday Musical, has been principal cellist of the Minnetonka and Bloomington Symphonies, and has performed with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra.
Lacey West received a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance and Bachelor of Music Education (K-12 Instrumental) degree from South Dakota State University and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Northern Arizona University. She has taught elementary through high school band and general music in the Twin Cities area, and also served as adjunct Professor of Music at Crown College in St. Bonifacius. Lacey currently teaches at her private music studio in Carver, MN while performing as a pianist and percussionist in the Twin Cities area. Lacey is an active member of the Music Teachers’ National Association (MTNA), National Association of Music Education (NAfME), and the Minnesota Music Teachers’ Association (MMTA).
Rebecca Heyn is passionate about her music making through teaching and performance. Earning her Master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music (Northern Arizona University) and her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance (University of MN-Morris) Rebecca subsequently went on to join faculties at the Talent Education Suzuki School (Norwalk, CT), Saint Joseph’s School of Music (Saint Paul) and MacPhail Center for Music (Minneapolis). Rebecca has collaborated on stage for Thursday Musical, Studio Z, and The Minnesota History Center. Her discography includes Broken Sweets and For Now the Winter Has Passed (Dr. Chris Granias). Requests for her accompanying span all ages, genres, and instruments. Rebecca teaches out of her home studio in Roseville.
